One of the biggest bands in the ’90s, Stone Temple Pilots have somehow found a way to forge ahead without singer Scott Weiland, who died four years ago. Last year, the band issued its seventh studio album, its first with new singer Jeff Gutt, a veteran of the Detroit music scene.
“The chemistry was there from the start, and Jeff [Gutt] kept coming up with one great melody after another,” says STP drummer Eric Kretz in a press release about the album. “We ended up finishing 14 songs, which is the most that Stone Temple Pilots has ever recorded for an album.”
The group has just announced the dates of a fall tour that pairs it with Rival Sons.
The two bands come to the Agora on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday.
