ATLANTA — Minutes before losing their series-opening game at SunTrust Park on Tuesday, 5-3, the Mets lost Jeff McNeil to an apparent hamstring injury.

McNeil pulled up lame as he sprinted toward first base in an attempt to beat out a ground ball to lead off the ninth. He grabbed his left hamstring before limping off alongside manager Mickey Callaway and trainer Joe Golia.

“Right now, all I know is his hammy tightened up on him,” Callaway said immediately after the game. “He’s getting evaluated and we’ll just have to see what it is.”
